For Sale: 97750 miles, $35,000; no trades, as is sale

This 1991 Syclone 1788 started its life in California, and spent 26 years there. In 2016 the next owner from Michigan purchased the truck (clean rust free).  The owner in Michigan is widely known in the Syclone Typhoon community and at the time of me writing this he owns 17 Syclones and Typhoons.

The owner in Michigan had a friend that is a Master mechanic at Roush, install a GM rebuilt transmission (I have verified their is a GM rebuilt sticker on it), and rebuild the engine with L35 heads (Vortex heads typically flow about 20% more air), and put in a lower mile stock Turbo.

In 2019 the Michigan owner traded it to the next owner in Illinois. This would be the 5th Syclone/Typhoon this owner had owned in the past 15 years. Once he got the truck he sent it to Meadows Restoration in Ohio (because they have painted Syclones before; the owner told me he paid a little over 10k for the paint job). Photos available on their website (paint completed in Feb2020; photo dates are 12Jan2020, 11Feb2020; view them on their facebook page link above).  The cladding was removed, and any issues were fixed. The bed was removed from the truck. The paint code for truck is WA8555 which is GM straight black.  The door jams were kept stock, and the factory stickers are present.  The inside of the bed was coated with bed liner, and the underside of the bed was lightly coated too.  All the windows came out, and new tinted glass with new seals installed (new door seals too).  The stickers on the truck were sprayed over with clear coat to give it great custom modern look. I would rate the paint 9/10.

Interior:

All stock except for a small custom plaque, a different Turbo gauge, and LED lights in the dash.  Under the carpet, and behind the door panels you will find dynomat (installed during its life in California).  The carpet is the original with one rub spot near the accelerator peddle.  Steering wheel is stock and shows wear as you would expect with the truck.  A stock radio was sourced and sent to H&R Electronics in Michigan to be fixed.  The seats are in excellent condition. The ECU was moved to a custom box in the glove box (the ECU is stock with no other chips plugged into it), making it easier if you want to plug in a different chip.  The passenger side power window is a little slow going up. The jack is missing. The power locks are weak, they wiggle the locks but are not able to move them (you can still manually move them). The dash has 2 small cracks by the speaker grills. Speakers up front are Sony and the ones in the stock location in the rear are from retro sounds (I purchased these).  A new headliner from LMC truck was installed, and the dome light and grab bar were not installed to give it a cleaner look.  New tint installed when the truck was painted.

Exterior/suspension:

The truck was lowered 1.5" all around, with blocks in the rear, turning the torsion key up front and new Bilstien shocks in the back.  Real Z06 C5 rims (18 rear, 17 front; the speedo runs about 8-10MPH faster than you are driving), new C5 rotors and C5 calipers (the brakes are amazing; ABS deleted using a kit from sportsmachine). I replaced the passenger side CV due to a rip in the boot when I purchased the truck.  Smaller mirrors from a 1986-1988 S10 (brand new from LMC truck) were put on which replaced the large elephant ear ones. It has a shorter stock looking antenna.  The headlights are H4 replacements, which allow more modern blubs, the current bulbs are LED ones.  The amber lights and tail lights were also replaced from parts from LMC truck.  The outside looks brand new.

Engine:

Again around 2016 the engine was rebuilt and L35 heads install, and a lower mile stock turbo put in (I have no documentation, I did chat with the owner who had the work done).  In 2020, from the owner I bought the car from completed the following items.  Removed the EGR, installed a block off plate, replaced the vacuum lines with a kit from sportsmachine.net, removed the ABS unit, installed hard lines (he did this at the same time he did the C5 calipers and rotors; he commented it was a huge improvement).  Remove the oil filter relocation lines, to relocate the oil filter to the block.  Installed a larger intercool pump, and it is hard wired on the key on position, so it runs all the time to keep the air colder going into the engine.  Replaced the drivers side engine mount with a solid mount. Installed a 454 mini reduced gear starter and wrapped the purple wire with header wrap (these are known to cause issues). The hard lines for the intercooler are still present in good shape.  All of the items he completed are known as the normal reliability modes you would do.  During my ownership, I had the AC unit charged with R12 and replaced a bad thermo switch for the AC.  I also had some aluminum sleeves machined for the air intake tube, which are now epoxied in place to eliminated the issues with the ends of the tube breaking due to overtightening the hose clamp.  I replaced the steering shaft with a new one without rag joints (this really firmed up the steering).  Replaced the wiper motor.  The fuel pump and filter were replaced in May2021.  The turbo (lower mileage one), injectors, and ECU are stock.  With the EGR gone now, it will occasional turn on the Check Engine Light (happened 3x time during my first 1000 miles); easy fix with a 3 bar, and a new chip programmed. Occasional it will poof a little smoke on deceleration, no smoke on start up (my mechanic verified the turbo has no end play; it may just need more use then I have been giving it) I have all of the cruise control items in a box.  I have put about 1800 miles on it in the past 3 yrs.  Spools up to 14.5 PSI (stock spec, cat still present).

I have a PDF of the clean car fax.  I have some vintage Syclone ads mocked window sticker, brochure, owners manual, car and driver magazine, that I would display at car shows (these all come with the truck).
